The two long-awaited books
I haven't posted on this blog in a while - I've been busy. Two of the books I've read since the last post were The City of Falling Angels and The Lost Painting - two books by authors who wrote best sellers in their first books in the 1990's and then took around ten years to publish their next one.
I was a bit disappointed with The City of Falling Angels - it was OK, and having been to Venice once it held my interest more than if it was just an abstract location. I just didn't care that much about the whole plot.
The Lost Painting was another matter - I thought it was outstanding. I'm amazed at how well Jonathan Harr writes. The story was of interest to me to begin with, but his telling of it made it all the more compelling.
