The Club Dumas
I just finished The Club Dumas a couple of days ago. I've read several books about books and book people, like Ross King's Ex Libris. This one is definitely the most convoluted and thought provoking. When I started it, I put The Ninth Gate on our NetFlix queue. It's going to be interesting to see how Hollywood handles this one.

The Portrait
The Portrait is one of the most memorable books that I've read in the past year or so. Iain Pears writes about a tense confrontation between two former friends, an artist and an art critic, strictly in the words of the artist. In about 200 short pages he builds the tension between them to its climax using this unique style.

Fahrenheit 451
Just finished rereading Fahrenheit 451. I won't analyze here, but I was wondering if anyone has ever come up with a way to measure how close we've moved toward the 451F society in past fifty-five years.
I'm convinced we're closer although I'd like to think the book-burning is no closer.
